Pros

I have been driving for Uber in the past 2 months and I can’t say I can complain. I have a very messed up schedule, with daughters extra curricular activities and I am trying to get my degree at college at the same. And I genuinely can’t imagine a job that would allow me to jump in and out of work at my own convenience without having to face conversations or have a hater colleague asking “why can he leave early or whatever” and no consequences. Flexibility is king.

Cons

Dirty passengers, too much supply and not enough demands at times.

Pros

Being your own boss, flexible work schedule, meeting people from all walks of life and from all over the world, create your own work environment, big tips make the day happier.

Cons

No guarantee of work or income, inconsistent earnings, no direct point of contact for communication, algorithm incorrectly assesses your driving habits which can lead to warnings or punitive action without factual information. As an I dependent contractor, there are zero benefits, no vacation/sick pay, all vehicle/phone expenses are the driver’s.

Pros

There is no way around it, you have to put in hours to make decent money. Don't forget about gas expense, and general car maintenance. I have been driving in Austin for about 3 years and currently I am averaging about $25 an hour (On-app logged hours). I do believe that if you just need some extra cash here and there it's a great side gig.

Cons

Long hours if you go full time. Best times to drive are when most people don't want too. Late night, early morning, rush hour. You gotta drive when all the cool things are happening.
