Pros

The pay and the bonuses.

Cons

- No room for advancement. You are stuck if you are at the branch level unless you “move to Pleasant Prairie” - Cult like work culture. You are allowed a limited number of “personal” items on your desk, that can only be a certain size. You are only allowed to display your most “current” award. There is even a “calendar” policy. Individuality is not a thing here. Strict dress code. Tattoos are a big no no (be sure to cover them up for your interview!) Standing at your cube is not allowed. Dress down days happen at the branch level occasionally but the only communication is in the form of a piece of paper that is passed from cube to cube that says “do not email or discuss on work computers.” When the owner Liz visits the branch, the red carpet is rolled out (extra deep cleanings, no trash liners in trash cans [because she doesn’t like that], no floor mats at entrances [that are there when she is not there,] fresh paint on all the walls, fresh mulch outside, fresh flowers, are small details… if she only knew how her branches look when she’s not around?) - No desire to provide employees a proper work/life balance because they are not a “work from home” culture. The “culture” that they are describing is the one where they don’t like that they cannot keep eyes on you every second of the day. - Rather than addressing/removing managers that are the root cause of turnover, they protect them and try to push the blame elsewhere. - Warehouse employees are worked like dogs with mandatory over time almost daily. Rather than looking at the sources of turnover and listening to employees, they think money and bonuses will solve issues. (Here’s a hint: it doesn’t…) - They want your opinion and feedback, but only if it’s what they want to hear. Otherwise, your feedback is worthless to them. - Interviews: there is a ton of weight on your personality test they have you fill out. This literally makes or breaks your application. (Here’s a hint: they want employees that will be compliant and fall in line (remember that cult culture I mentioned?) If your answers don’t meet this, you are rejected.) - Management talks about you behind your back. I’ve been in lunches where hard working former employees were ridiculed and made fun of because they left Uline. - Do as I say, not as I do. Managers live by their own rules. - No matter how much they want to provide you the illusion otherwise, YOU ARE A NUMBER. Nothing more. You can easily be replaced.

Pros

Decent pay, nice facilities, regular employee events.

Cons

Management likes to throw the line out that ''we care about our employees and their families'' but the company's actions demonstrate otherwise. I'm honestly not sure why they even hired us if they don't feel we can be trusted to contribute effectively. The incessant auditing should ensure that everyone is doing their job no matter the location, right? The obsession with being physically in the building in order to be considered productive has now become an endangerment, not only to employees but to public health as well. Unfortunately, actually being here doesn't mean anything as many employees spend hours watching videos, sleeping at their desks, and so on, but as long they are punching in and out for at least 47 hours a week it doesn't matter. Ridiculous. From the 1 or 2 communications the company has sent its employees regarding the pandemic (the last being nearly a week ago and contained a handwashing reminder and to keep your cubicle ''tidy''), the message seems to be if you're not sick, you should be in the office. Which tells me that the company either doesn't understand or care about things like how COVID-19 is transmitted, and that employees are not necessarily concerned for their own health, but the health of their families and others in the community due to the ability to silently transmit the disease and lack of healthcare resources for people with COVID-19 and any other medical conditions. This level of irresponsibility has reduced several employees to tears on a daily basis, but I guess as long as we're crying in the office, it's okay. Uline's response to this crisis, or lack thereof, reeks of selfishness. I guess they are figuring that if the rest of the world quarantines and makes sacrifices to slow the spread of this illness, Uline can keep chugging along and maximizing profits.

Uline Response

Thank you for your feedback. Like many other businesses, we had to adapt to the new reality of the pandemic. We are proud of the steps we have since taken to protect over 6,500 Uline employees across North America while balancing our responsibility to serve our customers. We have limited in-person work to employees whose presence is required to meet essential services and cannot be completely remotely. Over 80% of employees in non-warehouse positions are now working from home. To read more about Uline’s Response to COVID-19, visit uline.com/Corporate/About_Covid.

Pros

The Bonuses and that’s about it.

Cons

Toxic management. You are literally just a number to them. Ive seen some of the most hardworking people get chewed up and spit out by uline. If uline even suspects you are looking for another job they will fire you. Uline will always side with the customer. You are never in the right. I wanted out of uline so bad that I joined the military. I lost control of my life. I’m currently deployed overseas and I would rather be here than another day at uline. Thank you uline
