Pros

Pay, benefits, overtime, clean & it's a job

Cons

Where do I start? It's a very stiff, awkward and hostile company culture beginning at the interview process. You either fit in or you don't and if you don't, they make sure to either get rid of you or drive you out. Hard-core, right-wing environment, which may equal a hostile and awkward work environment for most. Very strict and ridiculous dress code, only 5 items allowed on your desk, no respect for work/life balance. You have to be VERY disciplined to work here. I am in the hiring process for a government position, which I will more than likely get, so I will not have to observe or take part in this toxicity any longer. Not all money is good money. And this is coming from somebody who blends beautifully in their environment but oh man, this is tremulturous to most people's mental health! ☹

Pros

Salary, food, lunch and learns are great perks. Facilities are beautiful. No out-sourcing.

Cons

Management is too focused on themselves and their fellow managers and directors. Promotions are exclusive to certain groups and mostly at the manager level. I feel like I’m always having to keep track of how many hours I work since we have to work a minimum number of hours while loosing time when we use PTO. I have never worked anywhere where you get penalized for taking PTO! As others have mentioned, the micromanaging is way out of control. All the directors sit in their offices and never bother to interact with their subordinates. To make matters worse, directors disparage subordinates and treat them with disdain. They setup most of their employees for failure. Holidays and PTO are a joke. 8 holidays is pathetically low. They also don’t value employees safety, since last winter they expected every one to go to the office when the temperature was -20 below zero. There is absolutely no work/life balance, here. Job growth and opportunities are very limited. You are NOT rewarded for hard work! In fact, it is expected and are not recognized when you do a good job.

We’re disappointed to hear that you don’t feel you are experiencing a healthy work/life balance. While we don’t shy away from our high standards to meet our growing demand and customer’s needs, we take pride in providing various professional development opportunities to help our management and employee teams thrive together. One of the things we truly appreciate is when our employees double down and work together until they get the job done, and it’s an expectation that we certainly try to set with employees at all levels. It’s this kind of hard work and dedication that has taken this small family business and grown it into a global company. As a current employee, you have access to many resources through the employee intranet. We understand your frustration and recommend you utilize our employee assistance programs to your advantage. We have these resources so our employees can express themselves freely with issues like the ones you have expressed. Thanks again for sharing your insight.

Pros

Pay and benefits. That's it. You must sell your soul for those two pros.

Cons

Poor management, no room to move up, employees are valued if they snitch on other employees or just lie to get noticed, Liz (the CEO) has 100% control and makes decisions that benefits her only, Interoffice communication does not exist. Future of company look poor with trouble of transportation (rather then let customers get two or three day shipping for less, customers are forced to pay high shipping charges for next day)

Thank you for sharing your experiences. We’re disappointed to hear about your less than excellent experience at our company. At Uline, we believe great customer service is achieved when our employees are satisfied. That is why we choose to invest in our team, such as with Uline University, tuition reimbursement options and much more. When our employees succeed, we succeed as a company.
