A company plagued by HR

Pros

Wonderful products, impressive history, good global exposure, ok place to start a career.

Cons

In the years I was at Unilever in the US I watched it devolve from a competitive innovative force in the market into a depressing dead end for those who weren't in the good graces of human resources. Unless you check the boxes that HR is looking for these days, I wouldn't even go near Unilever. They actively encouraged discriminatory hiring practices, and will not even give you the option to interview internship candidates who do not fit their militantly enforced DEI categories. So much talent attrition, resignations, and layoffs in the last few years, but for some reason the company brushes that under the rug and likes to act like they can continue to stay afloat by solely bringing in personality hires. If consumer product goods is your goal and you want to be in an environment where merit is rewarded and you can actually build the skills needed for todays cut throat market, apply for P&G, Colgate Palmolive, Ferrero, L'Oreal, or anything else in the area. Only skill set you'll leave Unilever with is how to cope with a below market average salary and recognition that you might just be in the next round of layoffs.

Pros

Nothing at all long 12 hour shifts or nothing

Cons

Upper management will fire you without knowing you. They just don’t care about you. They make you have accidents on purpose and then fire you

Pros

Salary, benefits / perks are good. Quality products, for which a solid reputation.

Cons

In my opinion: bullying, racism, a lack of tolerance, diversity, support; inflated ego, gaslighting and micromanaging all made known and not dealt with. Some management - toxic. Support for good mental health - lacking. HR covered for senior management in view of the above.
