Pros

Great pay and benefits. Started off at $14/hr and was at $32/hr in 3 years. Worked independently or with small groups of co-workers, minimal supervision.

Cons

Standards changed often, sometimes without notification. They layed off many good employees while keeping a bunch of bad ones. ( lay offs were determined by start date) Union is horrible and only worried about their bottom line.

Pros

The pay was very competitive relative to other companies. The benefits are competitive as well, although they have been shrinking for the past five or six years.

Cons

There have been ongoing quarterly lay-offs for the past three or four years. In most cases and in most departments they have long since gotten rid of any unproductive employees and now when they cut, they are cutting good workers who don't deserve it. The atmosphere is so negative because everyone is worried about their jobs. The portion of your pay they deduct from your check to pay for your portion of health insurance has been steadily increasing at an exponential rate, and there is no longer any choice of health plans (once upon a time you could choose between Tufts, Harvard Pilgrim, Fallon, Blue Cross etc...).

Money, benefits, looks very good on resume. Verizon will pay for you to go to college. Received degree that Verizon paid for

Cons

Lots of backstabbing, always a push to get recognition. Very stressful and lots of layoffs. Verizon wireless does not have nearly the layoffs
