Pros

The company offers a vareity of functions and specializations. Executives work hard on highlighting the outstanding accomplishments by both associate and management rank. The company receives accolades for being a good place to work for minorities and women, and that certainly resonates from people involved. The compensation and benefits for the upper management are on par or better than for some of the peers, and a lot of perks kick in after several years of service at a given title. Many people seem to be able to find a decent work life balance and very few have to work more than 50 hrs/week.

Cons

There are few competent people that remain at Verizon. Too many managers and Directors "punched it in" and are just counting the years to their retiremen. Few talented individuals that remain find it very difficult to make meaninful changes in such discouraging setting. Unfortunately, copensation seems to be the only retention strategy, rather than focus on a general growth opportunities. My promotions came in without achieving any defined milestones, and there has been a lot of frustration in the company about the lack of transparency about promotions. Very few peole seem to have an idea about what senior management is really thinking, and many projects have to change course three or four times before they are finally completed.

Pros

Verizon Wireless is leader in its industry, with solid growth prospects and customers that are generally happy with its service. Plus, wireless service is now a necessity rather than a luxury, so job security is relatively high. Employees are paid a decent salary and have above average benefits.

Cons

It's still a telco, run by people who trace their careers back to AT&T's monopoly days. The company, and indeed many of its peers, need new blood at the top levels.

Pros

Customer Focus, Pay and Benefits. Tuition reimbursement is excellent. Upper management very open and communicative. great cooperative culture between different departments.

Cons

Promotions not remotely related to performance based on performance, hiring from the outside to fill slots.
