Pros

The paid medical benefits , the paid tuition in any field, even if unrelated. That's the ONLY reason to work there. The pay is better than most places, and raises are signifigant and automatic. There is an incentive program which can substantially supplement your income. The money isn't the problem at Verizon. The compensation package is amazing. Thanks to the Union, of course.

Cons

In my particular shop, it's the management. My shop is where they send the managers who FAIL at other jobs at Verizon. And the worst of them all is the "resource management group". The people who control time off, attendance, etc. Their attitude is horrendous. Their goal seems to be to find a way to fire you, rather than work with you in ANY way. They make working at Verizon downright unpleasant. Hopefully, the announced reduction in management will bite a few of these people where it hurts. And maybe scare the evil out of the rest.

Pros

The pay and the benefits like free medical, life insurance, tuition etc. Working with the latest technology. There are some good and very knowledgeable direct supervisors.

Cons

Negative work environment, intense micro-managing, management imposed metrics that have little to no relationship to quality or servicing the customer even adequately, poor communication about technology changes that directly impact your work, poor inter-departmental communication at the expense of the customer and associate, poorly designed and frequently unstable software, horrible HR, no allowance for illness or even real emergencies, forced O/T, very poor life/work balance, very high-pressure environment where the bar is set so impossibly high that fewer than 10% of associates even meet the requirements, little recognition for quality work only for quantity work at the customer expense.

Pros

Nothing. The Best reason I can think of I have a Job Locally. The Name is well known. Good for people begining thier careers. Can have a logo on the resume. Just work work work. Dont think aboyt reasoning, do what is told. Like being Micromanaged and Love being given orders and no regard for your opinion. "Management thinks they are Always RIGHT" I heard permanent employess get some benefits like company pays for your Tution but after you KA your Boss for years.

Cons

Micromanagement, No Longterm vision, people are focussed on shortterm issues and no voice for the consultants. It is Name sake.
