Pros
Compared to other service based companies Verizon is better both in terms of salaries and the work(you are not made to sit on bench). Like any other company, there are some high priority projects and low priority maintenance projects. If you get into a high priority project you will have good career growth and learning as well.
Cons
Not as many on site opportunities as offered in TCS, CTS, etc. People who are good at presenting themselves and their work grow faster than people who are not that good in speaking up but are technically superior.
