Pros

Very good base pay, plus bonus. Top notch benefits, best healthcare program I've ever had.

Cons

Monolithic company. Very silo-ed, poor cross organizational collaboration, communication. Wireless side is much better than wireline side. Tough to advance beyond a certain point.

Pros

Great benefits and salaries. Learning and development opportunities. Many bright and talented employees. Autonomy and flexibility common in many roles. Great growth and opportunity in portions of the business (i.e., 5G). Leading edge technology tools. Verizon is becoming more employee-friendly and nimble, and working to reduce bureaucracy. Much better environment than 5+ years ago. Given Verizon's size, your experience can vary a lot depending on the job, location and organization you're in.

Cons

Big company environment does still exist, including some of usual bureaucratic obstacles. Company faces ongoing headwinds from legacy businesses along with heavy competition and rapid evolution of technology, creating constant revenue and expense pressure. Long hours and heavy workload not unusual. Frequent changes in systems, directors/VPs, organizational structures. Lots of outsourcing and layoffs. Legacy telecom part of company is unionized with potential for all other employees to be assigned to strike duty every 3-4 years when contracts expire.

Pros

Insurance 401k match Decent work flexibility Plenty of opportunities to grow your career, especially if you're willing to move. Sales leadership seems to be comprised of level headed and understanding people who will help you succeed. It isn't always the case, but no company has perfect leadership.

Cons

Capped commissions (caps are pretty high and this seems to be common across companies, but still annoying if it happens) Leadership is using SalesForce to manage sales activity and forecasting more and more. Not necessarily a con but if you can't manage your sales funnel with this tool, then this job will be stressful. This isn't a position where you sell and hand the customer off to a support team. Sales reps can spend a fair amount of time servicing customers on top of selling. There are avenues to reduce the service burden, but it has always been a part of the job.
