Pros

The company offers experience in multiple domains and geographies which provides great flexibility for a range of interesting career options, and especially in the public infrastructure domain.

Cons

Mindset is very much entrenched in old school engineering disciplines, plus siginificant overheads (among the rare stars) within the senior executive layer.

Pros

Some good people, who work hard, and are happy to pass on their knowledge. Very polished office environments and sometimes high profile projects to work on

Cons

Very corporate environment. Endless business initiatives that are of limited use, produced by a large central team of people who do no fee earning work. Continual expansion seems to be the only goal, with little reward for people showing any loyalty to the company. Biggest doesn't mean best

Pros

WSP grew extremely quickly and inorganically by acquiring / merging some of the largest engineering consultancies in Canada and the United States. Corporate leadership has expressed that it is time to begin in its people. To focus on performance, talent, and the organic growth of teams through skilled hires.

Cons

The issue will continue to be retaining top talent. On one hand WSP takes pride in providing opportunities to contribute to some of the world's largest projects, but it would seem that its best and brightest do not stay for long. Starting salaries do not attract top talent, and new grads are attracted to WSP's size and global brand - something WSP will rely on to attract a large number of applicants, but perhaps not the premium candidates they are looking for. On-boarding process is virtually non-existent. Team managers within offices are left to their own devices. The next few years will be key for WSP to set its new course on an internal trajectory that streamlines processes and supports the top talent that has carried the company through its current transition phase.
