1. I have found my store to not be as flexible or family friendly. I was planning on going back to college and was told that if I could not work when I was needed, that I might have to go back to being a cashier so the department I worked in would have coverage, which would have been a pay cut. I was also denied requested time off for my sons school activities because I am the only one in my department with open availability and no one else in my department can work on the days I requested off even though I requested the time off well ahead of the required 3 weeks in advance.
2. Only full time employees can get dental insurance and no employees can get vision because most Wal-Marts have Vision Centers in the stores and we get a 10% discount.
3. Downsizing hourly supervisor positions and putting too much work on employees.
4. Grass roots is a complete joke. No associate believes it helps at all as most comments and suggestions are not listened to.
5. Managers either have no clue what associates are doing or just do not care. Hard working associates are having to pick up the slack for some associates and nothing is ever done to them.
6. No more merit raises. Either 30, 40 or 50 cent raises once per year. But I've heard it has now went to 40, 50 and 60 cent raises. Will find out soon as my evaluation is only 1 month away.
7. Gossip is allowed to continue with nothing ever said to the ones starting the drama. The drama at my store is never ending.
8. Turn over is high as I believe the company encourages long term employees to quit or be terminated as it saves the company money. There are more part time associates in my store than full time. When a person quits/terminated and they are full time, they are only replaced with part time associates.
