Pros

There are adequete benefits available. Management is understanding and cooperative when time is needed off for personal or family reasons. There is acceptable balance between work and my personal life. There is always opportunity to move in any dorection you owant with ample promotion possibilities. There is a vast variety of job posistions available and associates are encouraged to seek those posistions and to focus on a promotions as they see fit for their peronal lives.

Cons

Overtime is rarely available, therefore, associates feel there isn't enough time to complete the tasks required of them in the hours provided. Working with the public is often very difficult and it seems that Wal-Mart customers are at times overly demanding and often hard to please. In my years of experience with Wal-Mart I have come to learn that the customers expect more from Wal-Mart (which I don't have a problem with per se), and are rather rude and disrespectful when demanding what they want. This sounds very judgemnetal, but after 10 years of service, thois is what I personally experience nearly everday. At times, it makes my job very difficult.

Pros

Good pay compared to most other retail jobs from what I've seen. Very Flexible with your schedule. Employee discount is very nice. (10% off on top of walmart's already low prices) Fellow employees are friendly from my experience. Management does it best to ensure you take your breaks and lunches and on time.

Cons

Can be required to work undesirable shifts (night, early morning, weekend) Unless you have good reasons to do otherwise. Can be rough if management is unfriendly. Open Door policy dosen't seem to be very effective.

Pros

Good pay, great place to work while in college with potential to go to the home office or join the management team. The profit sharing bonus plan is a great way to get extra money each quarter, provided the store is performing well.

Cons

A few managers are really not qualified to be managers. Raises are only given once per year along with yearly evaluations. So if you are a hard worker giving 120%, you will get a raise when the guy next to you gives 20% and also gets a raise. Some stores hire the least amount of people as possible, which puts added pressure on the associates that they do hire. Overtime is a rarity.
