Pros

I've had a highly rewarding experience as an Engineering Director on the Platform Engineering team. My role involves building the foundational cloud infrastructure, including AWS accounts and VPCs, as well as establishing our containerization and Kubernetes ecosystem with EKS, components, and operators. Pros: Autonomy and Innovation: You have the freedom to design and implement solutions from the ground up, using the latest industry tools and technologies. There's a high degree of autonomy to work with cutting-edge tools in Kubernetes, AI, and Cloud. Leadership Trust: The leadership team empowers you to lead critical initiatives, placing a high degree of trust in your judgment and expertise. This sense of ownership is incredibly motivating. Competitive Compensation: The compensation package is competitive and includes stock options, bonuses, and a salary. It's adjusted annually based on market research, which shows a commitment to retaining top talent. International Opportunities: The company offers relocation opportunities between Brazil and Portugal, which is a unique and valuable benefit. Entrepreneurial Culture: You're given a real sense of ownership and entrepreneurship, with the opportunity to contribute directly to leadership discussions and strategic direction. Learning and Growth: The culture embraces learning from mistakes through a robust post-mortem process, fostering a safe environment for continuous improvement. Flexibility: The company offers excellent flexibility with both work hours and location.

Cons

Limited Branding and Events: There's a lack of investment in branding and external presence. There is little to no budget for attending major international tech conferences, and the company doesn't run in-house events to empower its engineers. Additionally, there are no formalized budgets for team celebrations like workshops, conferences, events, or year-end parties. Limited Executive Benefits: While the title is "Director," the role does not come with traditional executive benefits. As you move into more strategic roles, the responsibility increases, but the benefits package doesn't compare to global companies that offer better salaries, budgets or executive perks like a company car, house allowance, external leadership education investment.

Working in a company whose main objective is universal well-being is an honor, our mission is always connected in all verticals, generating and promoting our market and changing the lives of all the people impacted in our ecosystem. Always concerned about the employee above all else, as a great job starts at home, I usually say: - Body, soul, heart must always be well. We work in a super dynamic market, where every day it is possible to do new and innovative things on all fronts.

Cons

Talking about the negative points of a company that I love working for is a very big challenge, but given the context that we are growing at a very high speed, there is a very large burden of adaptation and readaptation, so the work profile needs to be dynamic without being linked to the work routine, so there is no comfort zone as all areas are always evolving and changing something, the tip is: - Adapt to your team, create good relationships and be open to change
