Pros

Fair overall. Ethical. Balanced. Good place to spend some time in a career. Acknowledges need for work-life balance and makes a lot of effort to retain solid folks over the longer haul when possible. Good benefits and training offered throughout the company.

Cons

Some challenges in moving around once you get beyond 5 years or so for most. Some promotions can be very biased. Tendency to tolerate less-capable people managers in some areas. In corp jobs, analysts and consultants masquerade as leaders. Finance is a power function. Sales versus marketing-driven. Technology is uneven - some divisions have better tools than others. Behind the times in computerized systems for retail branch use.

Pros

Great training program. Good benefits. Opportunities to move around the country.

Cons

A big corporate machine. All numbers driven. Once you miss your numbers, your career is over within the bank. Very high pressure sales environment. Senior management only konws you by way of reports. Frontline managers are no help at all. Promotion comes by way of who you know, not what you know. Lots of empty promises just to keep you moving as fast as possible. Very high turnover.

Pros

Benefits are outstading at Wells Fargo. Four weeks of paid vacation for starters is awesome. 401K offers a 6% dollar per dollar match, which is not very common nowadays. Salary is adequate when compared to other banks. There seems to be less of a pushy sales culture at WF when compared to the other big banks-Chase, Bank Of America etc.

Cons

Product pushing to the moon and back. Bankers are told to sell to whomever and wherever they can, whether that person needs to product or not. Branches are overstaffed with Personal Bankers, some having as many as 6 or 7 for a branch that isnt very busy.
