Pros

The benefits package is excellent. There are some good people in among some not so good, with some great analysts.

Cons

There are some very poor managers, but unfortunately some very weak senior managers. Prior success in some teams was despite the managers of those teams, with metals a particular example. Failure seems to be rewarded with Vice Chairmanships etc.

Cons

Wood Mackenzie touts its culture as a positive distinctive. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Their culture is one of the most unusual and toxic that I have witnessed. It is rare to be part of an organization where dissent is so common and expressed so openly. No positive suggestions for reform simply a constant groan of discontent from across the organization. Senior management is mostly absent as you don’t often hear from them and they certainly are not around to provide anything resembling leadership. In my experience there is no rationality to their business decisions. It is largely based on emotions and relationships. Leadership is invisible Lack of vision Juvenile and toxic culture Lack of accountability at senior levels European culture of “read between the lines” or guess what I’m thinking Lack of transparency and ethics Almost no investment in people Reactionary policies based on fear
