Great organisation...but there needs to be more accountability for some managers
Pros
A the field level, World Vision delivers some of the best aid programmes I have seen. They are trusted by communities and because of there size they can really influence change and I ahve seen communities move from the poverty line to sustainable living with good opportunities for the future. So there is no doubt that this is an organisation with heart. Most the staff and senior managers are in this for the right reasons and there are few egos involved. Some of the best people I have worked with are in WV.
Cons
The cons with WV are in the silos that exist. I have seen major projects fall over because solid business acumen wasn't applied and major organisational projects have failed to deliver. However, the accountable mangers were not held to account, any other organisation and they would have been out the door. WV is so highly consultative at times that they fail to make quick decisions and then implement, there are projects that are 3yrs over delivery date and budget. A lack of robustness in organisational agility takes away from the great work done in the field. WV is loyal to a fault, there are managers and staff who are not performing who need to shape up or be managed out.
