Pros

You get to see the inner makings of what runs an NGO, meet scientists and conservationists who are passionate about what they do and of course - field visits.

Cons

There are some suspicious/sketchy individuals in upper management who get to keep their job despite multiple ethical misconducts.

Pros

Great work life balance, most junior staff strive to do a great job.

Cons

The company's hierarchical structure often results in excessive time spent managing upwards. Many leaders, especially those in VP positions, tend to focus more on micromanagement and creating unnecessary drama rather than providing meaningful guidance and support. This approach contributes to a chaotic work environment and undermines overall team effectiveness. Furthermore, HR seems to be caught in a difficult position, frequently prioritizing the interests of senior leadership over the needs of junior staff. This lack of support for junior employees can lead to frustration and high turnover, as many feel compelled to leave in search of a more supportive workplace. While the company claims that promotions are based on contributions and performance, the reality often reflects a different dynamic. Advancement frequently hinges on personal relationships rather than merit; if a manager likes you, they may advocate for your promotion or recognition, but if not, you might find yourself overlooked—especially if you aren’t part of their 'clique' or 'alliance.
