Pros

Hybrid working, and that's literally it.

Cons

Zurich, a 21st Century Horror Experience. In previous roles, I recall using a maximum of 3 systems (a data entry system, a note system and a payment system). At Zurich, you have: 1. 3 x Claims Handling systems; only one of which is modern/remotely user-friendly. One is literally older than a ZX Spectrum. 2. An online telephony system. 3. Two separate payment systems. 4. A myriad of other systems requiring login credentials. 5. Data entry requirements throughout various other systems. Imagine having to juggle so many systems each day WHILST having a caseload of at least 250 split across the 3 Claims Handling systems... The job is absolutely impossible and you're not empowered to do anything technical; you're essentially a glorified administrator working your proverbial butt off to try to stay afloat. Service Level Agreements which are supposed to be 7-days actually have hundreds if not thousands of outstanding work items stretching back several months. Each day presents an unclimbable mountain of work, with multiple new cases being assigned to you at various intervals throughout the day. I have no doubt that Frodo taking the One Ring to Mount Doom would be comfortably easier than working for Zurich. In fact, a descent into Mt. Doom's fiery chasm would probably be much less stressful than a day of not only juggling multiple systems but demanding Third-parties, Brokers, Solicitors whilst being summoned to wasteful meetings to talk about the introduction of a LiveChat facility to further pander to the customer, abandoning all consideration of employee welfare. People deserve to know what it's like to work here. Escaping that place has stopped my mental health from deteriorating into nothing.

Pros

Colleagues in the trenches are generally supportive and hard-working.

Cons

If you like your workplaces rife with office politics, micro-management and cliques then Zurich is the company for you! Career progression is almost non-existent (unless your face fits!) and good work is only acknowledged if senior management have left enough room for you in the allotted annual bonus scheme. This is an organisation that cares more for preaching about how much it cares for employee wellbeing than actually doing so. Ticking boxes and meeting quotas are priorities, while managing demanding workloads and stress levels come in a distant second. The endlessly recycled corporate messaging is one of tolerance and the aim of fostering an honest, open workspace, but the reality is anything but. Potential future employees will need to know how to play the corporate game to have any hope of career progression.
