I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Boeing (Everett, WA) in Jan 2012
Interview
Initially contacted by generic email to fill out an additional and more detailed resume online. This tells you that you've made it past the computer algorithm and into the hands of an HR generalist.
Was later contacted to schedule a phone interview
There were 4 individuals listening to my interview, not sure who they were.
Phone interview questions were standard behavioral with an engineering twist. I was able to find a good amount of related ones on glassdoor.com and write up responses that could be modified to similar questions. I printed all these out and had them at the ready if in case I needed more detail in my responses. There were about 4 questions total with personal response time at the end.
Only one phone interview was conducted and I was given an offer 6mo before graduation.
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Boeing
Interview
Expect a long process of lengthy waits and short bursts of activity.
Bit of a different circumstance here. I had a friend who was working there and he passed along my resume and a good referral. I was then contacted by a person who acted as the focal point of staffing in that division. After a bit of work, we found a position that I could fulfill and we scheduled an interview.
I've read that Boeing uses resume keyword scanning for their online applications and it can be a lengthy process. Having an internal reference can really help the process along.
Flew out to the job site and held a group interview. Started off by going through my resume and discussing how each experience tied in with the job description. Moved into a technical presentation on a prior project. Then there were 4-5 standard STAR format questions. Be prepared by having a situation in mind for the major behavioral questions. My interview was actually cut short due to an earlier flight back home. Took a rushed tour of the facilities. The hiring group had follow-up questions by email due to the rushed interview. After I answered any concerns, I was told that the job was mine.
Three weeks later was when I actually received an official job offer from staffing. Upon acceptance, there are several forms as well as a drug test that must be completed within two days. A background check then takes about two weeks. After that, there is pre-employment processing and orientation. Your official start date is the day of your orientation.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
What assignment was too difficult for you, and how did you resolve the issue?
I applied through college or university. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Boeing in Feb 2013
Interview
I applied at college/university career fair. I got a phone call from boeing in the next day. The interview difficulty was average. They expected the you to answer interview questions using the S.T.A.R. method: situation, task, action, and result.
