I was contacted by a recruiter with whom I conducted an introductory telephone interview with. She was lovely - very friendly and made me feel instantly at ease.
She immediately informed me at the end of the interview that I would progress to the next stage - a telephone mock sales pitch followed immediately by a series of competency based questions.
I successfully made it through this stage to move forward to the on site interviews.
I was flown to Dublin to partake in three face-to-face, back to back, 45 minute interviews, with three different employees.
They were very friendly and informative.
Unfortunately I did not make it through to the final stage but it was a fantastic learning experience.

Question 1
The most difficult question I was asked was to play the role of a sales associate in order to convince a local restaurant owner the benefits of online advertising.
I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Google in Aug 2012
Interview
After a phone interview, went on site to be interviewed by people involved in the project. Pretty basic questions regarding background and experiences, and some more challenging as how I would increase the number of sales by X% - and a very detailed answer for my step by step on this process was expected.

Question 1
How would you determine the reason for a decrease in sales of google products?
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Google (Redwood City, CA)
Interview
The process was a few interviews. One over the phone with a recruiter, this is where you show your personality. The next was an interview, in person, with the sales manager and the director of sales - here they really went into my background, the tools I used for efficiency and the way that I tracked my progress.

Question 1
Mock cold call on the spot, was not expected - but a great way to determine if I was the right fit or not.
