I was contacted by the Honeywell recruiter about a week after I applied online. We chatted for about 15 mins, and set up a time for me to have an online interview with the hiring manager.
I had a one-hour Microsoft Teams video interview with the hiring manager. I tried to be friendly and start with small talk, but he did not respond to my small talk - he preferred so sit in silence while waiting to see if the recruiter would join (the recruiter did not join).
Overall, the hiring manager’s demeanor was very stern and serious. He seemed concerned about something, and did not smile the entire time. My resume and certifications demonstrate my technical abilities, but he asked me to answer some basic technical questions, as if he didn’t believe I was qualified. (Honestly, I’m probably Overqualified for the position).
I hate to say it, but I think the interview would have been much different if I were a man. Since corporate culture and team culture makes such a huge impact on your experience as an employee, and potential for career growth, I knew 10 minutes into the interview that I would not accept an offer for the role.
