It was a phone interview with the volunteer coordinator and he asked me about my background and why I wanted to intern at a refugee nonprofit. He then described the different positions that needed to be filled and we discussed which position best suited my skills
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at International Rescue Committee (Oakland, CA) in Dec 2015
Interview
It was fairly easy. The supervisor of the Immigration department kept a fairly light conversation with me as my interview process. They main thing she wanted to learn from me was my knowledge of world issues, immigration laws, and other languages i spoke.
