I applied online. I interviewed at International Rescue Committee (New York, NY) in Feb 2021
Interview
The first call was a screening call with HR. In addition to behavioral questions, the HR rep asked about salary requirements, start date, etc. The next round was with two direct supervisors for the position. The questions focused on direct experience related to the role with some hypotheticals (i.e. How would you go about conducting M&E for X program). It's good to be familiar with program evaluation language, common indicators, etc. There were also more general questions. Overall, it was a nice environment with friendly and chatty interviewers.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
General: Why IRC? What book/film has most affected your desire to work in this sector? What is a refugee?
Specific: How would you evaluate if X program was successful? How would you improve Y program?
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at International Rescue Committee (Silver Spring, MD)
Interview
The interview was professional and fair. I had 3 interviews. The 1st one with the recruiter, 2nd with the program manager, and the last one with the director. the hiring process took almost one month.

Interview
Interview was on Microsoft teams. Interviewer seemed highly disinterested in having the conversation, which was super off putting since she was the HR recruiter! She asked vague questions and seemed perturbed by each of my answers. The interview process was also excessive for a role that paid less than my current nonprofit job at an org of similar prestige - when I asked if there was room to negotiate, she said “no, that’s why it’s a range from 70-75k.” I was told I needed to complete an hour long writing test before advancing to the next round. They also needed five references who could rank my skill set on a scale of 1-10 across various indicators. I withdrew my application after the screen call because I was left with such a negative impression of the org.
