Like all Big4 firms the application and interview process can start a year or more in advance of hiring.
After submitting my application the first interview was on campus. After that I interviewed at the office with a couple managers and one of the partners. I received my offer within days of the final interview.
The interview was more behavioral based since they want to ensure proper fit with their culture. I believe that this is because at the entry level they just want to ensure that you will be able to have the type of personality that can work on a team and be able to handle the workload.
It is important to show that you are interested in the work and the firm itself.
I applied through college or university. I interviewed at KPMG (Singapur) in Dec 2009
Interview
A single interview with an audit partner. While waiting for my turn to be interviewed, I was brought to a room where I could interact with various staff members to find out more about the firm and the profession. All the staff members there were extremely friendly and hospitable. The interview was really just a chat, with the interviewer asking me more about my past experiences that were stated in my resume. Mostly, he just explained the kind of work that the job entails and answered any questions I had.
I applied through college or university. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at KPMG (Houston, TX) in Oct 2010
Interview
This depends a lot on where you went to college, but generally speaking, there are on-campus interviews followed by office visits if you make the cut. If you went to a school with a prestigious masters program, KPMG will wine and dine you like you wouldn't believe because all the Big 4 are competing to have you sign with them. If you didn't go to a prestigious school, you should expect just first round interviews followed by an office visit with maybe a dinner or a lunch.
