The process took 1 day. I interviewed at KPMG in Oct 2010
Interview
Got an email for an interview invitation followed up by a phone call. First round interview was about 30 minutes and was mainly conversational. Had the general questions like "Why do you want to be a CA?" and "Why accounting?" Talked mainly about a couple interests that I had put down on my resume. Interviewer was easy going and interesting to talk to. Since we talked about my hobbies mainly, I did not convey transferable skills to the job very well. So if your interview is conversational make sure you do that.

2nd round was about 2 weeks later and consisted of a pre-interview reception the night before the interviews. On the day of interviews, we got a tour of offices and interviewed with a senior manager and a partner for 30 minutes each.

Interview
KPMG is very nice, they have a get together for all those that are going to be interviewing and they let you ask questions and get familiar with the company. They look for many things, not just grades and the way they choose who to give offers to sometimes makes no sense. If you get along very well with your interviewer then you are most likely to get called back for a 2nd interview but if not do not hold your breath.
