I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Kaiser Permanente in Mar 2016
Interview
There were two phone call interviews. The first was with my manager and another intern and the second with my manager, the intern and a few other directors who I would work with throughout the summer internship. The organization is very relational and I could tell that from they way the individuals who interviewed me responded to my answers. I was very pleased with the entire process!
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Pretty standard interview questions. Asked me about my background, why I was interested in Kaiser Permanente and some questions about making hard decisions and leadership.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Kaiser Permanente (Riverside, CA) in Jul 2016
Interview
It was a group interview with 5 other people. We sat along a table across from the two interviewees. We went down the table as we were asked questions:
1. Tell us your name, if you're going to school or working, and why you want to volunteer.
2. How would your friends describe you?
3. Name a time you had to work to reach a goal.
After that they explained that we cannot choose what department we will be volunteering in as they will decide which department would be the best fit for us based on our answers. A little frustrating after trying to go for a certain department and being told you might get stuck hanging out in the gift shop. However, if you are there to only volunteer and not to help with any future career then you are golden.
Overall it was pretty laid back and easy. You are there to give your time, and they just want to make sure you will be available to help, and don't have a crazy busy schedule.

Interview
Panel interview with 3 other Communications Consultants (peers of the position being hired for). This was the first time I've ever been interviewed for a job by people who might see me as competition. If you're a Communications Consultant and have your eye on the next job up the chain, are you going to hire someone with more and better experience than you have? Crazy system. The kickers were the questions about my own history of health care insurance. "We were all Kaiser babies. Are you currently or have you ever been insured by Kaiser Permanente?" (I never have been.) It had that certain cult-like feel. And what were they going to do, check my medical records before hiring??
