The process was quick; however, I felt strung along. I met with a recruiter for a screen, then a panel of the two hiring managers I’d work with, and finally 3 one hour back to back interviews with VPs in the practice.
The hiring manager interviews were amazing and I could totally see myself fitting in with the team. They were so kind and passionate about their work.
The last round, however, seemed disinterested in me and my experience from the first few words of the interview. They were very short and tried to get me to talk deeper about projects I really couldn’t because of a former employer’s NDA. Also, I had to take an afternoon off to complete because the coordinator chose the one time I had said I was unavailable. When I brought this to their attention they didn’t respond.
The next day the recruiter told me I didn’t get the role because of a single sentence I said in the 3 hour interview that made them feel like I wasn’t interested in the day to day nitty gritty and was too strategic for the organization.
Overall, I left feeling like they knew I wasn’t going to get the role going into that last round and wasted my time having me still take a Friday afternoon off work to go through these.
