Very unorganized fashion of recruitment, initially got a invite from recruiter to have an interview with the hiring manager, accepted the invite, and 30 mins before the interview recruiter told the inverview is postponed, but did not reschedule the meeting, just to be on safer side i joined the call and surprisingly hiring manager was on call, poor communication from recruiter, either way the interview asked couple of quality related question and was impressed with my background and wanted the next round. I was waiting for the next 3 weeks without any response, tried reaching out to recruiter thrice since hiring manager affirmed that he wanted me on the next round, suddenly I get a rejection email. Very poor professionalism and communication, honestly happy that I didn’t get to next round.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Rivian (Detroit, MI) in May 2021
Interview
Recruiter reached out to schedule a phone screen. Most of the recruiters at Rivian themselves seem new to automotive or Engineering recruiting. Looks like they are clueless on what the Engineering jobs entail and that reflects in the questions they ask during the interview. Complete radio silence after the interview even after I sent an email requesting an update. This has been my experience in all Rivian interviews. They are late to call and never provide an update on the status.

Question 1
Typical screening questions. Why Rivian? Nothing out of the ordinary.
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Rivian (Palo Alto, CA) in Dec 2020
Interview
Interview process was normal HR call then panel round. they made me talk to 6 different interviewers of 45 mins each.
Interview process was like regular PM questions however at the end they declined saying you dont have automotive industry experience.
Advice: The job description does not mention anywhere automotive experience is needed. instead of going through several rounds of interview with undecisive team it would be smart to ask them if they are looking to get someone from automotive. Also ask them what they are looking which is obviously not mentioned in the JD that way you respect your own time even if they dont care.
