Interview
Math exam, HR interview and user interview within the same day. The HR interviewer decided if we were worthy to proceed to user interview. The HR interview was relatively relaxed and wasn't packed with behavioural interview type of questions, but for the one with user naturally it got bit more technical.

Question 1
Details of previous position, motivation, salary expectation
Shopee. 11.11 12.12 Jingles on YouTube advertisements. Those are the subconscious reminders of the Top e-commerce company. I would think of “the”renown e-commerce brand that offers a platform and community to support and adopt local sellers and brands to strive and ride through the unprecedented events victoriously.
Throughout the covid 19, i was able to identify the 3 key ingredients to strive on uncharted waters, which are adaptability, perseverance and passion for your work and personal life.
I wanted to be a part of a history, so I applied for relationship management / key account. After 1 week, I got a call back from Hr to set up for an interview which will take place after 2 weeks.
On the interview day, the recruiter and I chatted via google meets. I shared my working history and achievements throughout the interview. I felt the recruiter was in a rush to get things done. I managed to catch some red flags of judgmental, doubts and bias from her questions and tone based on my past sales experience and industry. I was surprised to know that Shopee doesn’t provide coaching, mentor, training and active and constructive conversations / feedbacks to learn new sales and conversion method as we are living in an ever changing and competitive economy. As mentioned by the HR, they would like someone who can start, find leads and convert sales on the first day.
However, I maintained a positive energy and deep passion to join e-commerce because I believe and foresee that online shopping will stay. In fact, it has become a cultural phenomenal which was ingrained as Malaysia’s daily lifestyle - new normal.
Even though i didn’t get a chance to work in Shopee now, but it doesn’t mean my e-commerce career has ended and I will continue to build up my skills be part of the e-commerce community. it was all good only until the user interview and was NORMAL that a candidate to ask questions at the very end. The user asked me "do you have any questions?"
Yes, obviously I have loads of questions after the interview session and since it was the last round (before the decision), I have tons of questions. However, the user was really cold and rude while answering my questions and at the end, the user said "Why do I feel like you are interviewing me instead?"
