I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Target (Saint Paul, MN)
Interview
The whole process from filling out an application, to getting the email confirming my orientation took about 2 weeks. After I had filled out my application online (I applied for either cashier, sales floor, or Starbucks). I received a call about 3 days later to schedule an interview for the Starbucks position. I was told it would be an over-the-phone interview, which was new to me. The phone interview took about 15 minutes with an ETL, asking questions like "Why Target Starbucks", and "Describe a time you successfully worked with a team." He was extremely nice and quickly told me I was going to come in for a second interview about 5 days later. My second interview was again with an ETL, and only took about 15/20 minutes. She explained a little bit about herself, and asked me the same. Questions were similar to the first interview..."Describe a time you made a mistake, and what was the outcome?" At the end I was told I would receive a phone call on Monday if they had a spot open for me. Right when she said that I thought for sure I didn't have the job considering what I've read on here about how they hire on the spot. I also had to take the assessment this day as well. To my surprise an HR member called back Monday and asked if I was able to stay until midnight on certain days around the holidays, and once again set up an appointment for me to come into the store 2 days later. FINALLY, I was offered a position as a Starbucks TM and had 24 hours to take a drug test! Like not even 2 days later I got an email confirming my orientation! Very excited for this position!
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Everything was pretty much the way others have explained on here! The two that stood out to me the most were "What would you do if you were on the floor and a customer asked for a specific shoe size but you noticed they were out?" and "What would you do if you knew the price of a product was $19.99 but the customer insisted it was $17.99?"
I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Target (Flowery Branch, GA) in Sep 2012
Interview
I arrived 10 minutes early, I walked over to the Guest (Customer) Service Center, and was sent to the Starbucks.
The store manager greeted me and gave me a "Retail" test. It was 20 questions asking what is the best decision and worst for each. Afterward I was interviewed by the Team Leader at the Starbucks. Next I was interviewed by the Floor Manager, they were both really sweet, especially the Floor manger.
The store manager told me the pay--a little more than minimum wage (it's 7.25 in Ga)--and asked me if I wanted the position, I accepted, of course, but my orientation doesn't start for TWO weeks!
At the orientation I have to be trained for cashier as well, since I am technically an employee or Target and not Starbucks. The uniform is red polo/collared shirts (or black for Starbucks) and khaki pants, and black shoes.
