I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Tesco (Dunfermline, Escocia) in Oct 2017
Interview
Invited to an interview for festive recruitment. Showed up and this was a group interview of about 12 of us. They waited another 15 minutes for people that didn't show up that were maybe running late which I thought was a lot of leeway. Went into the room and there was one woman hosting and another four people on a panel as it were, judging. The woman hosting rambled over and over covering the same things and the whole thing wasn't very constructive. We filled out forms. They then asked the group 2 competency based questions which then we all had to try and answer first so to seem not nervous however also don't want to talk over each other. I find the group interview a complete mess. If you're not so rude to speak over people you're automatically labelled as too shy. We were then taken onto the shop floor to approach random customers and ask if they need help with anything (something which Tesco colleagues never ever do). There wasn't many people in shopping at this point so we took to bag packing for people. I was again labelled as being too nervous or shy because when a person made it obvious they didn't want their bags packed or they didnt want to continue chatting, I didn't continue to harass them about it.
