The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Verizon (Reading, PA) in Jan 2011
Interview
Upon submitting a resume and profile, I received a call and had a phone interview with a recruiter who then scheduled me to meet and interview with the local manager. Local store manager was pleasant and had a good vibe and positive experience thus far. Mostly job description was discussed and compared to my background in similar positions. I was asked back for a third 1:1 interview with a regional manager, who gave off a very intimidating and pompous vibe. Stressed the fact that you must be strong, eager, and insistent and rhetorically questioned whether I would "be able to handle it". Overall meeting/interview ended on a positive-neutral note with no negative feedback or hesitations. Was told I would hear back whether I would be considered or not considered. Never heard anything, or received any email/notice despite my following up with thank you emails and gratitude towards interview opportunities. I also noted that there seemed to be a lack of female representation.
Interview questions [2]
Question 1
Can you handle it? --In regards to the pressure that his team of salesmen in the next room endure during busy high volume days and low dips in business. (Wasn't sure how else to answer such a blunt/unprofessional inquiry that I felt questioned my capacity as a female in the sales industry)
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Verizon (Hialeah, FL) in Mar 2012
Interview
I applied online and was interviewed over the phone by a hiring manager, after passing my phone interview they gave me a date to go and meet for a store interview in a store that the company was hiring. The store interview was around 3-4 days after the phone interview and consisted of a group interview with the locations assistant manager and store manger. Both the store manager and the assistant manager asked me several tough questions like:
1) Name a time when you could not meet a goal or deadline and what you did so that it wouldnt happen agian.
2) Sell me a product of your choice (and I had to do a presentation selling them a product and they gave me up to 2 minutes to prepare for the presentation).
3) Sell me one of the products that you sold in your previous jobs, why is it better then this other product, what features does it have? how much more does it cost?
4) Why do you want to work for Verizon?
5) Describe some of your retail experience
6) Name a time when you had to use technology or adjust to new technology that was coming out.
7) Did you have to meet sales quotas in your last job?
8) Name a time when you had to motivate your team, what did you do to motivate your team?
The interview was friendly but it felt like I was getting grilled with really tough questions and asked to make alot of presentations. I printed and studied some of the interview questions that people posted on this site for sales associates before going to the interview in order to be prepared to answer some of the questions I was expecting but some of the questions that they asked me werent listed on this site.
