The typical hiring process involves applying online. For most of the time, this is the only way you get any type of communication with the company aside from visting actual retail stores (where the managers have no say in who they want to push through the hiring process). Personally I attended a public walk-in interview session (these are rarely held to my knowledge) after being passed up twice through the online process. I had one over the phone interview following my meeting with the recruiter and a store manager at the walk-in event, and was subsequently offered the position the next day. From what I have gathered from many people I have spoke with, the typical hiring process takes around 3-4 phone interviews before an offer is offered. Once I successfully passed the background check and drug test (yes they make you obtain a drug test within 2 days of the final review process) is when my official offer came through.
