After submitting my cover letter and resume I had a phone interview with the supervisor and a manager from the department. Roughly two weeks later they followed up to ask for 2-3 references and provided a mock assignment.

Phone interview with a scripted list of questions, asking about general prior work experience and precise interest in the role. Also asked about frequency/experience with volunteer work relevant to the role.
