Pros

Good opportunity for growth, flexible with scheduling, good starting pay with certain positions and management for the most part is very nice and personable

Cons

No raises for multiple years running and yet CEO and senior management constantly get raises and bonuses. Completely overloaded with work from other departments because the company refuses to hire people and is in fact cutting jobs to foreign countries for cheap labor.

Pros

Used to be the pension and job security, but both of those are gone now.

Cons

Never recovered from near collapse in 2007. Totally changed focus and strategy that made it a world class operation and leader in the insurance industry. Ability to "do the deal" is gone. No looking for ways to write business, but more about trying to re-write the business and becoming just like everyone else. Do not care about the employees at all. Many unhappy people over there. Layoffs have been rampant for years, just done quietly as they were under the federal bail out and that wouldn't have looked good in the papers.

Pros

Clusters of dedicated professional who can buffer the effects of bad management. The opportunity to take CE classes is available and in house computer technology is good.

Cons

Very political. Offering improvements to processes not encourage even when it clearly benefits the bottom line. Very much centered and geared towards relationships. If you know the right people you advance and are rewarded. If you work hard are profitable and very productive and don't know the right people you just are not compensated or promoted as readily or at all. Limited upward mobility if you are not in a clique or have a manager who appreciates your commitment and contributions.
