Pros

They pay and the benefits are great! That is how they hooked me in the interview. I got a very reasonable salary with no experience in insurance

Cons

There is the absolute minimal training provided to Underwriters who need assistance. They say they will train you on the job, but then get very angry when you ask questions or ask for clarification, and there is not a central information location for employees to reference. Also there is NO HR in the entire SF building..... it is a 1 800 number :/ The day I left: I had just found out that I was never assigned major training after 5 weeks on the job and constantly asking about it, and my manager had also told me to stop asking questions and "know my place" I got up and quit right then because I felt like I my manager did not want me to learn as quickly as I wanted to learn

Pros

I have worked with some great people at AIG. There are always challenges and something new to do and learn. The work has been interesting.

Cons

Management in the tax department is poor. Way too political. Too many people just trying not to make a mistake and afraid they will be fired. Over the years there have been too many consultants running the show.

Pros

Great place to gain loads of experience. The pay is ok, and I appreciate the Performance Bonus.

Cons

Worked to death. The number or hours we are pushed to work are ridiculous. I am a mid-level employee that must work a minimum of 10+ hours OT M-F, then must work almost every weekend. And work every vacation at least 20% of my "Paid Time Off" . Performance Ranking: Although I rarely receive less than a "2" Ranking, I feel that the % of great employees forced into a "4" Ranking is not fair or representative of the actual level of work performed.
