Pros

Chartis has a great balance between work/life. They also have a great benefits package. Vacation time is average.

Cons

The pay is awful, and they just had to overhaul the compensation process, while laying off between 500-600 people. Rumor has it that the Berkeley Heights location was hit hardest by the lay-offs; at senior managements discretion. SO basically if you were either not liked or deemed overpaid for your position, you were let go. I had a feeling this would happen after 3rd Q earnings revealed a high operating value. Morale was already low before the pay-offs. I am positive it is worse now. Anyway, stay away from Berkeley Heights and work in NY office if you can.

Pros

Great working environment, great management, training, and compensation.

Cons

Tough job to do. As with most insurance jobs it is strictly commission compensation, so it is not the job for everyone.

Pros

health insurance and other benefits are great some of the best. pretty much anything is covered. pay scale wasn't too bad (if you got hired before AIG went bankrupt) salaried employees get unlimited sick days

Cons

everyone is comotose the resistance to communicating is taken to a whole new level, people will get down right mad if you insist on it. this is the root of issues with unhappy employees here. no one is being told how they are doing. everyone is in the dark about most everything and it breed anger. this is a division of AIG which is enormously political in every way. prepare for lots of corporate red tape. supervisors are promoted as managers based to technical skills, even if they are social inept with no idea how to manage actual people
