Pros

Good pay and that's it!

Cons

AT&T is pushing out it's core I&M techs. On the wireline core I&M side, no room for advancement, no room for movement, no training. AT$T is lumping in the systems tech (data) title with cable splicers instead of giving these data guys any chance of continuing data in the new forms. Changing all data work to premise tech title that makes $12 an hour less and scrapping the knowledgeable data guys. Local management for the most part from other non technical positions and have very little knowledge of what we do. upper management don't care at all and treat techs as substandard peasants. Forced overtime because they refuse to spend money on the garbage copper cable they still put bigger and better data on. Winter means not seeing your family.

Pros

Lots of work in many areas

Cons

Don't trust management, its all about saving a dime. Constantly looking to cut people and outsource to India and other countries. A US company in name only. Constantly reducing headcount, the latest is get rid of people that have more than 10 years so they cap their retirement plan.BEWARE

Pros

I'm still in a legacy DirecTV division, so the people are great. I got some a really awesome project and great new technical skills from it.

Cons

It seems everyone is replaceable and equal at AT&T. Don't expect merit rewards. I killed it for the team and got zero raise. AT&T benefits are also terrible and there is threat of salary reductions for the full transition in 2017 so I am looking around. Still it can be a good place to get experience for your resume. Just don't expect to reap the rewards here. If you are exceptional take the experience and move on. It's only a place for the mediocre to feel comfortable long term and stay.
