Pros

I feel ATT is by far the best and most stable telecommunications to work for these days. This gives some people piece of mind but piece of mind doesn't cut it most days.

Cons

Working for ATT is like working for 10 different companies, since SBC purchased ATT, not much has been done to make the many different companies streamlined. ATT tries to make it appear that we're one big company but that is the furthest from the truth. I regularly hear from Legacy-T support folks that it is a LEC problem when we're the LEC. Nothing makes a customers blood boil more than hearing that. Upper level management need to take a long hard look at where this company is going. Its been said that ATT is defining the market and that customer will pay more for the customer service and the Network. We may have the Network but if the customer support isn't there what’s the point?

Pros

it's an overall great company with many opportunities to advance. not only can you advance within the corporate store part of the company, but national retail and indirect stores as well.

Cons

the pay scale is crazy. i was one of the best reps in the state when i got promoted to my current position and had to take a $16k paycut just to advance within the company. i'll get that back with my next promotion, but it's crazy to think that i have employees making more than me with a whole lot less responsibility.

Pros

Our yellow pages have been the best in the business for well over 50 years and have made lots of money for our customers. Our new internet yellowpages.com is producing decently for our small business customers and has potential. Our union makes sure that our individual managers in Sacramento cannot abuse us as much as they'd like to.

Cons

In the internet age, marketing is changing as customers convert to internet advertising. Our management is not smart enough to figure out how to adapt to the changing market, and they blame their own failure on the sales reps that report to them. More than half of our middle managers have no college degree and have never studied pyschology, marketing or management.
