Pros

Having a job, when unemployed. They love hiring the hard core welfare group people that they get tax credits for. SO, you get to work with some colorful and unmotivated people that just got off some government program. Interesting to watch them punch a manager or two when they get publicly stripped of their uniforms, badge and keys and carried out of the gate in front of the crew. Most get fired for complaining about the HR violations or just not kissing up to the managers. The biggest PRO is just doing this because you are desperate for work and don't want to work at McDonalds.

Cons

Hostile managers, impossible metrics. constant inspections and write ups. Everyone is on a constant PIP or Formal discipline action. It is a constant beat down and use of ridicule and embarrassment for keeping the troops in line. Like being hazed everyday, every quarter and every year. Hours can be 14 a day, 7 days a week up to 14 days straight. Managers will cheat you on your hours by re-doing your time sheet in order to keep the efficiency metrics up. Typical to work 12 hours and get paid for 9 or 10. The managers get called on it, but only the employee gets terminated for other cause if they make a stink. The manager gets transferred. You never know what time you'll get off from work at the needs of the company. your days off are cancelled with12 hour notice. Kiss your family or social life good bye. Anyone gets hurt, it's the injured person fault 100% of the time and your fired for reporting a splinter or not reporting it will get you fired. a No Win situation. You cannot request time off for doctors, dentist or family events. again you get one day off every 12 hour a day, 14 day stretch. They like to rotate people and bring in fresh bodies every 6-12 months. Burn out rate of off the chart. I have made it 3 years and if I had time to go on an interview I'd be gone.

Pros

Good salary for people that have been there for more than 10 years. Pension for us but not new hires.

Cons

This company makes billions of dollars in profit yet treats it employees like it is broke and it all comes crashing down to the bottom. Making a big mistake not promoting from within the company. No opportunity to move up in the company. Does not hold people or departments liable for bad work which is rampant. Customer care is at an all time low. If you have a degree you have a job even if you have no knowledge of the field they put you in. But, will not promote someone already employed who have years of knowledge of the job and would be a much better employee for that position. Not a very good and happy environment anymore. Most people with 20-30 years can't wait to leave. Upper management is so out of touch with it's employees it is scary. All we hear everyday is numbers, numbers, numbers. We are made to stand up by a board in the morning and talk about yesterdays numbers and listen to rah rah rah jargon. It is demeaning and ridiculous. It is reminiscent of Romper Room. I am a 50 year old man with 25 years experience not 12 years old. There is a clear voice at AT&T and that is out with the old experience and in with the new inexperienced college kids that are being taken advantage of with underpaying jobs because they don't have much choice.

Good pay, but that won't even want to make you stay...

Pros

As an RSC you get paid a lot for not doing much. Keep up your numbers every month and you'll be fine. Easy to sell. Company phone. Discount on some company products and services. Paid vacation days. Great insurance coverage. 401k.

Cons

Must work weekends and most holidays. Retail schedule. Typically from 10am - 9pm. Monthly push for specific products that don't have any effect on your commission. Incompetent managers who are pawns of upper management Horrible communication between employees and upper management. Horrible union that does nothing to help when your union rights have been violated. They promote from within, but they promote those who can be easily manipulated to do what upper management wants. You need to play that game if you want to be promoted here. Hard work here only pays off with your commission, not even that sometimes. Commission structure changes every year so that RSC's have it harder to make to hit goals to get higher commissions. Commission check is combined with hourly check and is taxed by 35-40%. Constantly harassed by RSM's and ARSM's about numbers and WTR score.
