Pros

Pay and benefits are good. My coworkers were great.

Cons

Lack of tools needed to do the job. Entire site 18 employees trying to use 2 hotspots. Couldn't access systems we were supposed to be administrating. Couldn't maintain connection during required TEAMS meetings. Didn't have the rights to make simple changes that were our responsibility. Next level support was under staffed and lacked training and had to be walked through a lot of basic tasks. Managements stated expectation was we don't go home just because it's 4:30, We work until the job is done. Worked 100's of hours of unpaid overtime. Responded to outages after hours, while out of town on vacation without compensation. Many employees worked during vacation days because of poor staffing. We were specifically told our employment wasn't tied to a contract. When the contract ended so did our employment.

Pros

If you enjoy annual layoffs, then this is your place. If you like to pretend to be technical, but have no skills, then you are a match! If you want to have a second job, were not much is required, then AT&T is a perfect match!

Cons

Zero technical capability, which is why the stock price is so low given its revenue. AT&T pretends to be technical by stitching together other company's products. Most of the very good technical stitching people have been outsourced. or terminated. Layoffs aren't based on performance but by location. Stankey said in multiple town hall meetings, "AT&T doesn't need all these old people." "We need younger people with new ideas." "AT&T doesn't need people who know hoow to use abacuses". His latest attempt to clarify was something to the effect, "We need people with relevant skills." "A person with 40 years of work experience may have lots of skills, but are they relevant? And a person with only 5 years of experience may have more relevant experience." That's some coaching, but getting rid of people who know how to use abacuses is the greatest line a soon to be former CEO ever spoke. Twice during my tenure, AT&T could not account for $4B dollars. They knew it was spent, they just didn't know what it was spent on. AT&T gave ALEC $25M per year for ~20 years! Now, they have a diversity VP and some training classes. Not sure this will undo the damage ALEC has created in the US and around the world.
