Pros

Prior to AT&T buyout of DIRECTV, it was a fantastic work environment. Great perks, beautiful offices, minimal bureaucracy, collegiate environment and quick pace in terms of management decisions and implementation of projects or policies. Those of us who worked here prior to AT&T would describe DTV as a "well funded startup" type of environment where innovation and new ideas were encouraged and employee morale and development was a top priority.

Cons

After the AT&T buyout of DIRECTV, it is glaringly obvious just how different the two companies are. All of the aspects we loved about DTV are quickly disappearing. Employee perks and budgets for morale have disappeared. Decision making in all areas of the business is absurdly convoluted and slow, even for the smallest of business needs. Heirarchy reigns supreme at AT&T, in stark contrast to the very lateral environment that existed previously at DTV. Each new day is becoming more depressing than the last.

Great benefits including 4+ weeks vacation, 6% salary match of 401k, paid maternity/paternity leave, financial support for adoption. Flexibility to work from home or office in newly renovated collaboration zones. Lots of opportunity to move around the company & work on new products.

Cons

Process heavy with lots of administrative overhead.

Pros

Great company to work for, good benefits.

Cons

Downside the goals are unattainable, and the company forces you to sell home security and cable tv, the majority of customers come into the store to upgrade their devices or open new accounts, since day one when I started working for the company, I watched employees that had been working for AT&T for over 10 years get laid off for not attaining their goals, and these were very committed employees. I was completely turned off by this, I had a wonderful hardworking manager who also got demoted and transferred for not attaining the store quota and most of my colleagues seemed to live in constant fear of being the next on the list.

Thank you for your feedback and acknowledging the great benefits we offer. Goals help us stay competitive and to grow as individuals and as a company. We're no longer just a phone company, so our employees need to be able to offer all products and services we provide. But we try to balance the challenge of meeting sales goals by providing top notch training, pay and benefits. We appreciate you and will ensure your feedback is heard!
