Pros

Depending on who you work for you may have a great job experience or not. Some bosses are very considerate of your schedule and pay.

Cons

The benefits have been cut over and over again in the last several years. Many lay offs happening and "re-engineering" of departments. Some departments are being completely eliminated. The deficient is just getting worse due to less demands of blood.

Thank you for your review. As you noted, due to the changing nature of the biomedical industry, our organization has recently undergone restructuring in order to better position ourselves in the field. Our leadership team values all of our employees, volunteers, and our mission, and continues to strategize ways the Red Cross can remain stable and viable as the industry continues to evolve.

Pros

Working with people dedicated to the same mission of alleviating suffering. The Fundamental Principles are pretty incredible. In general, people are pretty great to work with-- Division level support has been great for the chapters and region. Volunteer-led organization

Cons

We have extremely high turnover in our chapter because of lack of compensation, inability to "climb the ladder," and people simply moving on after gaining skills here.

We thank you for your detailed and constructive review and appreciate your praise for our people, mission, and principles. We agree that in order to retain our employees, they must be fairly compensated and developed. Being a nonprofit, we must strike a balance with fulfilling our mission and spending our donors' funds responsibly, but our leadership team is always looking for ways we can make our organization a more attractive place to work. We will pass your feedback on to our leadership team.

Pros

This is a Great mission, there is none better.

Cons

Overworked, used, threatened and under-appreciated. Oh, did I mention the worst pay in the US and their best attempts to cheat you out of that. It is quite shocking from a humanitarian organization.

Thank you for your review and praise for our mission. We are sorry to hear about your negative experiences. We recognize the importance of not only fairly compensating our employees but also making them feel valued. Our Concern Connection line is available to address issues that one may not feel comfortable speaking directly to their supervisor about; the phone number may be found on our intranet site. Thank you for your feedback--we will pass it on to our leadership team.
