Pros

Meeting people from all walks of life, with incredible stories and journeys (both colleagues and the strangers on the street in your community); feeling like you've done a little bit more to protect human rights around the world; shorter days than a "traditional" office job; good benefits (but only if you stick around long enough to actually receive them, which is rare); good public speaking practice

Cons

Poor, ruthless leadership in the canvassing office; high job insecurity week to week, which leads to high stress; emotionally (and sometimes physically) draining work; overall disorganization; no transportation compensation; very high turnover; no opportunity for lateral movement into another non-canvassing office

Pros

Important mission; some very talented and committed colleagues; brand recognition and related access, rich tradition; excellent salaries; possibility for career progression.

Cons

Poor senior management with some exceptions; increasingly superficial, lightweight, bureaucratic and intellectually lazy; increasingly framented as an organisation and Movement; too many questionable ethical practices; living off the past.
