Pros

Interesting projects and some good people.

Cons

Bad office culture bordering on unprofessional. For starters make sure you receive a written job description with your super trendy visual contract (that looks like a comic book). This was an absolute joke, and simply masks detailed company and employee responsibilities with pictures. Arrogant and unhelpful middle managers more concerned with resourcing than staff welfare or people’s career aspirations. Reactive hiring practices and entrenched favouritism to long standing employees regardless of talent. Relentless pursuit of offshoring opportunities to save money, while rock star client manager types roam the country posting to social media. Top down culture, defined by those above not the regular people who work there.

Bully culture

Pros

Staff are free to pursue their own preferences Negotiate a good starting salary and get new job offers every couple of years. Aurecon will make a counter offer: no-one wants to work there.

Cons

Bully culture at all levels. Be prepared to leave if you are not going to join the evangelists. Lots of nice talk and ideas but there is no very little action on the ground. Aurecon lurches between boom and bust working on key projects only and is unable to compete on everyday engineering work. There is no formal training, you will need to force yourself onto courses and work to self-train. Managers are not intersted in spending time training junior staff.

Management

Pros

The people below management are collaborative and helpful and care about the organisation

Cons

Smoke and mirrors This company protects the 'old boys club!' Truth is they do not care about gender equality and bullies. Management is spineless, risk adverse and non-transparent. They hold on to dead weight with zero leadership attributes and keep their salaries high and pay the rel brains little. They sell innovation and can't even manage their own internal business. Useless at excecution therefore millions spent on consultants who deliver nothing but strategy documents that the cleaners could formulate. Do not work for them - they treat people like robots and turn them over if you dare be innovative or aren't born in the 1950's
