Pros

Flexibility in working from home or at the office

Cons

Over the past six months, I have been subjected to ongoing bullying by a colleague. I have reported this to management multiple times, yet no action has been taken. This is particularly concerning given Aurecon’s strict policies regarding such behaviour. I have written evidence of these incidents, and this person repeatedly humiliates me in front of others. One of my managers even told me that this colleague’s aggression towards me is due to trauma from her past employer, and that I should “understand” and tolerate it. I believe it is completely unacceptable to excuse toxic behaviour simply because someone did a hiring mistake. I should not have to endure a miserable work environment for a situation that is not my responsibility—especially as this person was recommended by a manager, bypassed the usual interview process, and has a well-known pattern of problematic behaviour. It is deeply disappointing that no one is taking responsibility for addressing this issue or protecting my wellbeing. I have specifically requested not to be assigned to the same projects as her as a minimum, yet this request continues to be ignored. Meanwhile, a colleague who was humble, efficient, and kind was made redundant—highlighting the unfair and political nature of this company. At this stage, I am exhausted by the lack of accountability and support, and my focus has shifted to finding a way to take as much distance as I can from my work.

Pros

Flexible working with no required office days.

Cons

Work very much dependent on public investment and large infrastructure projects. When these dry up, people are let go very very quickly.

Pros

I cannot recommend Aurecon highly enough. As a multi-national firm, it stands out for its genuine commitment to the best interests of its employees, which likely stems from its owner-operated model and the smaller size of the New Zealand industry. For a corporate, Aurecon excels in respecting personal boundaries and promoting a healthy work-life balance, as demonstrated by their excellent flexible work policy. The opportunity to engage in a diverse range of projects alongside talented and approachable colleagues makes Aurecon a fantastic workplace.

Cons

When looking at Aurecon as a future place of work, make sure you ask about the pipeline, and what each office across the country specialises in. Generally the office location in which you are based can be a big determining factor in the potential markets you may be able engage with.
