Pros

The partners are very knowledgeable about many different industries and they are normally willing to sit down to thoroughly explain themselves/the task at hand. You can learn a lot about specialized industries and empower you to take on more challenging tasks.

Cons

Sometimes it is hard to work with individuals when they are working remotely from another office, but this is often overcome by frequent contact.

Baker Tilly Response

It is great to hear such positive feedback about your confidence in the partner group. And also to hear how comfortable you are in going to them or other managers for feedback or questions. Regarding your technology concerns, we encourage you to discuss with your immediate manager or a human resources representative. At the firm's annual meeting in May, you can also express any concerns or questions you may have on this topic. We appreciate your review.

Pros

I absolutely love the people I work with. BT employs a younger crowd for the most part and generally promotes from within based on the typical 3 years to senior 5/6 to manager, etc track. They have a lot of fun activities planned throughout the year. Very flexible schedule during summer. Excellent benefits.

Cons

Many of the cons of BT really depend on the group you're working with or get stuck with. - Little to no employee development. You will not hear about a performance review or goals until a couple weeks before they are due, you will meet once with your PC, and likely not hear about it again for 5-6 months. - It is a struggle to get feedback on your puerformance from Managers on an engagement to engagement basis. Like I said, this is measured twice a year and you will not hear about it in-between. - The hours. This depends on the group you are placed with, but I have routinely worked 70-75 hours and had 2-3 weeks of 80-85 hours/week during busy season. From what friends at other firms have told me, they have very few weeks that approach this standard of BT's during their busy season. - Terrible flexibility for mothers with children. Reduced work schedules which pay a fraction of a full-time salary, often still result in 50+ hours during busy season. I have seen 2-3 new mothers leave the firm in my time here.

Pros

They are really flexible time wise, as long as all the work is done. Management is friendly, fun, and inspiring. There is a learning and team atmosphere. BTVK or Baker Tilly is the best company I have ever worked for.

Cons

Baker Tilly is located downtown Minneapolis and parking is not paid for at my position level. The office interior could be a little bit more open. I would also like a microwave on my floor.
