      Pros

      If you are looking for a fun place to work in San Francisco, this is the place to be. This may be the only firm outside of NYC that has a broad coverage of asset classes (fized income, equities, forex) and geographical regions. The investment process is scientific, there are no superstars and no epiphanies, the ideas are tested and backtested to ensure the economic merit of the decisions. A spunky new building in the financial district, good technology support and freedom to innovate.

      Cons

      Your day at work starts at 5:30 am or earlier for some folks but then you also scoot off from work early.

      Its good to work for a market leader, especially in a falling market

      Cons

      Technology management is appalling and quality is quite low. A lot of dead wood in management positions. No investment is made in process improvement and technology direction changes every year based on the latest buzz-words.

      Pros

      Some good reasons are the money you get paid is quite nice. You are also not worrying about dealing with people in the US.

      Cons

      After working here I realize that the money that Barclays pays is very good. It however attracts the people who are only it for the money and not people who want to make a difference. The turnover rate here is very high so there is no real way to bond and form relationships. A lot of people are also from outsourcing companies and the level of sincerity to the job is very low.
