Very solid work environment. Efforts are taken to maintain a diversified and ethical culture Benefits and compensation are desirable.

Cons

Benefits and career opportunities have declined dramatically since 2000. Advancement from within is extremely difficult. Most efforts made on an employee level are not recognized at the upper level.

The company values are exceptional with the goals of helping and saving lives. Compensation and benefits are good.

Cons

Life-work balance is discussed and supposedly very important at Baxter, yet not practiced. From what I've experienced, if you work long hours, you are seen as dedicated and more likely to be promoted. Middle management tends to be selected based on promotion as a subject matter expert, and not on the merits that they can manage people and projects. Also, career development based on employee's strengths is not encouraged.
