Pros

Nothing great about the management or culture at this place.

Cons

The favoritism, sexism, and entitlement at this place is like no other. Those on the outside should be warned that this is an awful place to work. Spare yourself the daily stress, utter chaos, and lack of career development. I very much regret working here.

Pros

Used to be a great L&C function in London with some great individuals in most teams. Good office location Work is stimulating and varied

Cons

A Goldman culture of fear and self-importance at the top of the Global Compliance function has killed the great atmosphere and the dynamics that used to exist. Senior L&C staff swan over to the London office on trips and it has to be treated like a Presidential visit full of fake forced fun and excitement otherwise you face the chop. All of this is combined with the wider "Big Brother is watching you" mindset that developed post-COVID, (e.g. you get put on a list and spoken to if you only came in three times the previous week or "You left 30 minutes after your contracted working hours - do you not have enough work?") A lot of good people have either been made redundant or are leaving the firm and new roles are only open in Edinburgh and Budapest which is part of the brainwave to drive costs down to maximise profit at the cost of talent (the brilliance of Goldstein). The staff that are left are now seriously overworked and there will come a breaking point. Too long have resources been pumped into Budapest and now Edinburgh and the people propping up the EMEA Compliance function are getting smaller and smaller. The last Christmas party was in 2019 - 2020 and 2021 were cancelled due to COVID and then never spoken about again. They even stopped with the "Pizza Parties" after the first 6 months and just decided to fire you if you didnt come into the office instead.

Pros

Great resources and opportunity to learn.

Cons

Extremely political. Doesn't matter if you are good at your job or add value to your team, they can still fire you in order to cut cost. Always be ready.
